We feel so blessed to have shared our first month with our daughter's life with Ms. Jane (Soonja) Choi. She was an incredible support to our family and allowed us to enjoy the first moments of Alicia's life. Baby Care - Ms. Choi has solid experience in newborn care. I like how she mixed helpful aspects of traditional Korean baby care with a modern approach. She had updated understanding on current philosophy of baby care that our parents wouldn't necessarily understand. Her knowledge expanded from baby health, breastfeeding, sleeping, bathing and hygiene. Everything I learned about newborn care was from her! Mommy Care - As a new mom, my attention was naturally focused on Alicia. But Ms. Choi reminded me to take care of myself as well so that I can quickly recover and bond with my daughter. Her support included breast massage, belly massage, facials and vaginal cleansing (with sook). Breastfeeding is complex for any mom. Ms. Choi provided daily consult and her breast massage helped relieve pains from clogged ducts which helped avoid mastitis. Family Care - Ms. Choi's cooking is really amazing. She cooked 3 healthy, delicious meals per day, plus snacks, to ensure that I was fully nourished - which is especially important for breastfeeding. She makes excellent Korean, American and Asian-fusion dishes. Her cooking helped my husband and I to have more time to spend with our daughter. Ms. Choi also helped bring together a daily schedule for us. This helped our family to establish a structure. This was especially helpful for Alicia to sleep 4 hours + 3 hours at night. After Ms. Choi left, Alicia continues to improve and now sleeps 5-6 hours at night as a 5-week old. Ms. Choi was like family to us. I admittedly cried after she left because it's hard to replace her. :) I am incredible thankful for the way she cared for our family and especially our daughter. Alicia bonded quickly and naturally with her and definitely misses her. We'll be telling stories of her third halmuni when she gets older. Thank you Ms. Choi!
