Yun Ae Cha (이모님) has been the most amazing caregiver to my son and I’m so thankful for her expertise and care. As a first time parent, I had a lot of questions and anxiety over the care of a baby, but Yun Ae Cha’s 10+ years of experience was invaluable in showing me the ropes as she helped nurture my baby with love and dedication for the first 2 months of his life. She worked tirelessly, not only to care for my newborn but also with my post partum physical recovery. More impressively, she successfully sleep trained my son with no more night time feedings and he began sleeping through the night at 8 weeks old! She’s a miracle worker!
As soon as we arrived from the hospital, Yun Ae Cha greeted me and my husband for the first time at our home. I didn’t have a chance to interview her (my mom took care of all the administrative set up) so as you can imagine there wasn’t really time for an introduction. Yun Ae Cha rolled up her sleeves and went straight to work.
Since day one, Yun Ae Cha has been preparing our meals on a daily basis. From traditional seaweed soup, jooks/porridge, variety of comfort Korean dishes to the occasional American style meals, the first four weeks was focused on nutritious meals to help with my recovery and lactation. In addition, she prepped daily sitz baths and breast massages which helped prevent clogged ducts and mastitis.
During her time with us, she slept in baby’s room and over 24 hours a day, she made sure all his needs were met (diaper, feeding, burping, napping, bathing, baby’s laundry). My son is thriving and growing thanks to Yun Ae Cha’s care.
It’s scary to trust a stranger with your most precious newborn. And as with any working relationship, there is a learning curve in the beginning to understand personality/working style compatibility. But Yun Ae Cha is trustworthy and hardworking. During her time with us, she proved to be an amazing caregiver. She works tirelessly to care for the well-being of the baby and it shows in everything she does. We treated her with respect and love, and got so much more in return. We are so sad that her time with us is over and wish we could hire her for longer!
