This review is for Grace Kim immo-nim. We feel enormously blessed to have been under the care of Grace. After a tumultuous birth, it was the best possible postpartum experience we could have hoped for. Living in the Bay Area, I was having difficulty finding a Korean sanhoo for postpartum care, and we were delighted that Sanhoo USA could staff outside of LA.

Grace immo-nim essentially taught us how to be parents. She has an inherent love of babies, is such a natural with them, and has been a sanhoo for 8+ years. She cared for our son so well, and we were very thankful to have her guidance as we navigated feeding, severe diaper rash, and baby constantly waking up at night. She also advised on how to do warm compresses and breast massages to stimulate milk. In the beginning, our son would wake up to feed every 1-2 hours in the middle of the night, and we were so thankful to have Grace immo-nim there essentially functioning as a night doula. I was able to get a few hours more sleep, which helped with my milk production. Even when I would breastfeed, she would help burp and hold him afterwards, so I could get more sleep. I don’t know how she did it and barely remember her sleeping even though we encouraged her to get more rest.

Grace Immo-nim is also an incredible cook. We ate like kings, from delicious and healthy Korean food, miyuk guk, to Japanese, Italian, etc. Our first meal was a beautifully plated salmon dish that far exceeded anything we were expecting. I later found out she has certifications in various cuisines, but it’s really her enjoyment of cooking that has her getting creative with different dishes.

She was wonderful company and very independent, and truly a godsend for these first time parents. She is able to intuit when to be helpful, when to give us space, and also was very patient about our rather barky (but harmless) dog that had a tendency to guard our baby against anyone outside of our family unit. We couldn’t recommend her more highly!

Thank you, Grace Immo-nim!
